About this piece

The Tarimbang Daybed is named after the most famous beach on Sumba's south coast. The platform is a double-skin teak construction — the top face is slatted at 5 mm gaps for airflow and drainage; the frame below is a series of teak stretchers joined with through-tenons at each corner.

The daybed ships with a hand-woven ikat bolster pillow (60 × 30 cm, cotton filling). The bolster uses the same Rende-village ikat as the chairs and bench seats. A mattress cushion (not included) in local kapok or coconut fibre is available as an add-on — write to us.

Made for

A villa terrace, a poolside daybed, an indoor living room lounge, a hotel suite reading corner. The 200 × 90 cm platform accommodates one adult lying full-length or two seated. Suitable for covered outdoor use year-round.

Teak is naturally resistant to moisture and insects — the daybed can remain outdoors under a roof without seasonal treatment. An annual oiling in direct coastal or pool environments is recommended. See wood care guide.

Frame — Teak

Double-skin teak construction. Top slatted face is dressed teak at 40 mm width × 25 mm thick; the frame is 60 × 60 mm section teak with through-tenon corner joints. Finished in raw linseed oil — two coats before delivery.

Bolster — Sumba Ikat

One ikat bolster pillow included. Hand-woven cotton cover from Rende village, cotton filling. Removable cover — machine washable at 30°C. The bolster can be replaced independently; ask for the cover dimensions when ordering a replacement.

Frame care

Re-oil annually for outdoor use (two coats linseed, let cure 48 hours). For indoor use, once every two years is sufficient. The teak will silver naturally without oil — both looks are valid. See wood care guide.

Surface care

Machine wash the bolster cover at 30°C. Air dry, do not tumble dry. Spot-clean the outer ikat only; avoid soaking the cotton weave.
