The Lewa Bench is named after the Lewa plateau, the broad savannah heartland of East Sumba. It is a single-plank seat supported by two sets of stacked teak legs joined with through-tenon and rattan cord — no metal anywhere in the structure.
The seat panel is hand-woven ikat from Rende village, stretched taut and lashed to the frame. The bench is designed to work alone or as a pair at a dining table. Standard length is 140 cm; shorter and longer versions (90–180 cm) are available on request.
A dining bench, an entryway bench, a garden or poolside seat under a covered terrace. The proportions are low and grounded — it reads as traditional Sumba architecture in miniature.
Weight capacity 200 kg per bench (two seated). Designed for interior use; suitable for covered outdoor use in dry season. See the wood care guide for seasonal maintenance advice.

Tectona grandis from certified Sumba forestry. Dense, naturally oil-rich, and dimensionally stable. Finished in raw linseed oil, applied twice before delivery. Suitable for interior and covered outdoor use.
Hand-dyed cotton in natural indigo, woven on a backstrap loom in Rende village. Lashed to the seat rail without adhesives. Replaceable — write to us if a panel is ever damaged.
Re-oil the frame once or twice per year with raw linseed or tung oil. Let it absorb overnight. Avoid silicone polish or ammonia cleaners. See full wood care guide.
Dry-brush or wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. Do not machine wash. Spot clean with cold water only.
