About this piece

The Sumba Dining Table is the centrepiece of the collection. The top is a through-and-through sawn suar slab — the widest slice from a single log, retaining both live edges and displaying the full sweep of the grain across a 220 cm span.

The trestle base is hand-joined teak: two A-frames with angled through-tenon joints and a central stretcher that locks the whole structure without bolts. The table disassembles into three pieces for shipping and reassembles in under 20 minutes.

Made for

A dining table for 8–10, a conference table for a small studio, or the centrepiece of an open-plan villa interior. Custom lengths (160–280 cm) available at no extra charge per centimetre.

Suitable for interior use. The slab is kiln-dried and stabilised — it will not warp if kept out of direct outdoor weather. International shipping available as flat-pack. See FAQ for crating costs.

Top — Suar (Monkey Pod)

Through-and-through sawn slab from a single suar log. Both live edges retained and cleaned of loose bark. Natural voids filled with clear epoxy or beeswax to preference. Finished in raw linseed oil, two coats.

Base — Teak Trestle

Hand-joined teak A-frames with through-tenon joints. No bolts, no brackets. The stretcher locates with a wooden peg at each end. Finished to match the top in raw linseed oil.

Frame care

Re-oil the top once or twice per year with raw linseed oil. Apply generously, let sit 30 minutes, wipe off excess. Repeat after 24 hours. Avoid silicone cleaners. See full wood care guide.

Surface care

Same linseed schedule for the teak base. Check the through-tenon joints annually — they should be snug. If any loosen, tap the peg tighter with a mallet. No glue or hardware needed.
